What drives some kids to excel naturally or sooner than others? What creates that inner drive that we all have seen in some athletes but not in others? These are the matters that truly get us excited about Ath-Elites and the “mind preparation” side of training. We will strive to teach each child that it is within their own power to control and develop their inner strengths. We teach kids the power to control and understand their fears, which will allow them to face challenges in sports, and every day life. We strongly believe that “inner athletic traits” can be taught, visualized, and championed at a young age! We can implement and teach strategies that promote your child’s ability to cope, learn, be stronger, and excel in sports. This is “Sports Mentology”, not psychology. Sports Mentology to us, is the ability to concentrate upon the natural laws of competition, the inherent “street smart instincts” we all possess, to excel, be driven, and to flourish while playing sports. We teach the “shedding” of fears and inhibitions that block our development, and then promote the positive desire to excel. This is accomplished with 1 on 1 training and special mind drills. We work to understand your child and then to concentrate upon what we see is lacking or hiding within themselves. Every child disserves a chance to experience sports to it’s fullest, but not every child develops at the same growth rate, internally. Some learn these matters on their own, and others sort them out eventually over time. Ath-Elites “MindPrep or Sports Mentology” exists to bridge the gap. |

Coach Johnnie has believed his entire life that most of what we do, how good we do it, and how much we want it, is mental. He believes all things can be learned. As such, he understands a child’s mind is precious, can be fragile, and that sports can be intimidating to a young child’s ability to grasp, embrace, or flourish during sports activity. However, young athletes can get passed these barriers, move from average to very decent athletes, and learn to finally “let go” while playing sports. This ability to “let go” and fully experience a “free flow” of energy while playing sports, can be learned. Coach Johnnie strongly believes in developing a child’s self-esteem, and stretching their ability to “train their brain.” The only true way to advance past limits and fears, is by eventually being able to coach oneself. His goal is to get kids to embrace their abilities, improve, and to use their minds (and bodies) to boost their physical performance.

Coach Johnnie believes valuable life-lessons can be learned from sports. He helps a child get to the next level from wherever they are now, using fundamental athletic movements, so they may enjoy sports and the beauty of competition for life. His program builds healthy habits, character, discipline, a giving and compassionate demeanor, and a consciousness toward community giving. He aims beyond the fields, or courts that we play upon, and extends the effect to the classroom, choices, our circle of friends, and the total self.
